Michael B. Farrell
Mike Farrell graduated from the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame Law School. Prior to joining Thrun Law Firm in 1983, Mr. Farrell was Senior Counsel to Senate Majority Leader William Faust in the Michigan State Senate. He has also served as an attorney in VISTA - Volunteers In Service to America - with Nevada Indian Legal Services. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the State Bar of Nevada and the American and Michigan Bar Associations (Labor and Employment Law and Litigation sections), as well as the National and Michigan Councils of School Attorneys. He is a member of the Michigan Panel of Labor Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association.
Admitted to the U.S. District Courts for Michigan, Mr. Farrell maintains the Martindale-Hubbell rating of “AV Preeminent®”. He practices in the areas of labor and employment law, general school law, including special education matters, and contract law. He represents clients in federal and state courts and before federal and state agencies and commissions.
He has served as Chair of the Michigan State Bar Committee on Constitutional Law and was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to a select committee to oversee the State Bar of Michigan. He has also served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Ingham County Road Commission and as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Ingham County Parks Board. Mr. Farrell has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Lansing Food Bank, the West Michigan Environmental Action Council/WMEAC, the Boarshead Theater and the Michigan Chapter of the Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers. He serves as a Mentor in the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program/LJAP, a program run by the State Bar of Michigan to assist lawyers, judges and law students.
Mike Farrell coaches basketball in an area recreation league. (Losses far exceed wins.) He organizes fundraising drives for the Greater Lansing Food Bank and for a scholarship fund in the name of a deceased classmate at Notre Dame Law School. He has received awards from the Ingham County Bar Association and the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association. He has run several marathons.
